Lake Street Dive • Delmar Hall • May 19

Founded in 2004 in Boston, Lake Street Dive got their name from a row of "dive bars" on Lake Street in Minneapolis. Their wide-ranging sound is derived from Classic Jazz, '60s soul and good ol' fashioned rock 'n' roll.

Giving their newest and seventh album a road test, Free Yourself Up off of powerhouse indie label, "Nonesuch Records," the Brooklyn-based quartet plunges into St. Louis Saturday May 19th. Their new album is grittier than the past few, perhaps a grittiness you can only obtain when a Brooklyn band takes their recording efforts to Nashville.

Drop in to Delmar Hall and take in some multigenre slick sounds from a group that met at one of the best conservatories in America, New England Conservatory. You'll be a better person for it. -CW
