Blame it on the Eighties.
After MisterWives lead vocalist Mandy Lee threw a cover band together to play an ‘80s-themed party, she bonded with bassist William Hehir and never stopped making music. They continued adding members (Jesse Blum; Marc Campbell; and Etienne Bowler, who eventually became Lee’s husband...err, misterwife?), and MisterWives was formed.
From that point, the band shot to fame relatively quickly. In 2014, a little more than a year after their inception, the NYC five-piece released the EP Reflections to critical acclaim, and followed the next year with their full album debut, Our Own House, on indie label Photo Finish Records. The album and single of the same name helped the band gain even more traction, as did touring with the likes of Half Moon Run and American Authors, and later, Panic at the Disco!
The band brings Lee’s sublime vocals and their fun brand of folky, indie-pop to St. Louis's LouFest on September 8th in support of their latest release, last year’s Connect the Dots. --JR
