Chicago has Lollapalooza—and we all know it’s going to be a madhouse. The Second City also plays host to the biggest online music blog’s annual showcase, the Pitchfork Festival, which will offer some of indie rock’s biggest acts, attract a large crowd and is worthwhile. BUT, Riot Fest is celebrating its 15th year—and is pulling out all the stops.
The 2019 Riot Fest has something for every music fan, including Blink 182, Slayer, Bikini Kill, the Raconteurs, Ween, Descendants, Patti Smith, GWAR, PVRIS, Pennywise, the Struts, Grandson, Cherry Glazer and The Flaming Lips. As you can see, it’s a no-brainer to journey to Chicago for this experience. Last year’s line-up was also quite formidable:
Douglas Park plays host, and three-day passes start at $129. What?! $129 and you’ll see more than 50 bands. The 298-mile drive to Chicago will seem like nothing in exchange for the opportunity to take in the weekend. If driving to Chicago isn’t in the cards for you, the Amtrak is a cheap option and drops you at the festival’s doorstep.
Unlike anything you'll find at other festivals, Riot Fest will feature full-album performances by:
Against Me! – Reinventing Axl Rose + Transgender Dysphoria Blues
Avail – Over The James
Blink-182 – Enema of the State (20th Anniversary)
Bloc Party – Silent Alarm (15th Anniversary)

Glassjaw – Worship and Tribute
The Selecter – Too Much Pressure
