The English Beat
Duck Room at Blueberry Hill • Nov. 22
By Cory Weaver
It's The Beat in England and it's The English Beat in America; nonetheless, the rudies filled up the Duck Room at Blueberry Hill and celebrated nearly 30 years of new wave, ska-riffed rock. Dave Wakeling, the only founding member that remains of the Birmingham, England-based group is ageless.
The band performed hits that included "Mirror in the Bathroom," "Hands off... She's Mine," "Tenderness," "Too Nice to Talk To" and "Save it for Later," which put everyone into the holiday mood with the positive merriment that only ska can.
